Mail art as a direction of artistic activities was present in Poland in the 1970s and ‘80s. Andrzej Partum, for years a close friend of Zygmunt Rytka, was active in this movement. Rytka’s archive contains objects with similarities to mail art, such as his personal invitations and postcards as well as a series of postcards featuring a photograph from Rytka’s exhibition from the cycle Complementary Images from 1982. The artist would send these cards to friends already addressed to himself, asking for them to be sent back. One of them is a postcard from Andrzej Partum with the heading “dialogue: rytka – partum” on the front.
